Our Farm

For us, farming is more than a living - it’s a legacy. My grandparents who emigrated from Italy, were farmers with an entrepreneurial spirit. In the early 1950s my grandfather Nick Martino had the idea of selling his produce directly to the community he lived in. Which led to the opening of the first fruit stand in Modesto, located on Claus Road. My grandparents passed along to my mom and dad a love for the land, and a passion for producing some of the finest produce in the area.

At a young age my dad impressed upon me the importance of hard work and standards. He said that if you produce a high quality product it will sell itself, but you have to earn the trust of every customer.

My parents opened their first fruit stand in 1976. In 1992 my wife Dean and I opened a fruit stand in our hometown of Turlock, California. We have also expanded our family business to include selling products to Bay Area farmers’ markets, restaurants and more recently online. Together with our three children we have carried on the family tradition of offering fresh produce to our neighbors.

As a farmer, the environment and the land we work is our greatest resource; we do everything we can to protect it. We grow over 70 varieties of fruits, vegetables, melons and nuts, making it a year around operation.

Farming is who I am, who I was raised to be. A farmer who takes pride in his work, the way my father and grandfather were and the way I’m teaching my children to be.

Because we are Italian, there is one thing more sacred than growing food- cooking it. All the cooks in my family will tell you that a good meal starts with good ingredients. It is our honor to share our harvest with you. Please enjoy our homegrown products- Mangia!

Best Wishes,
